Bug 90301 – Thunderbird 1.0.2 GUI opens frozen - fixed by close and restart.

Every time I open Thunderbird 1.0.2 after a cold boot/clean login session the GUI opens but then freezes half way through rendering and no messages or folders are displayed.  It also renders a little oddly: The icon in the top-right of the message list (with the popup tip "Click to select columns to display") is also rendered over in the folder list (in the top-right).

GUI is frozen and does not respond to mouse events in any way (can't access menus).  However the background application appears to be working, as it does collect mail while running in this state.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Cold boot or restart
2. Log in via GDM
3. Click on my Gnome thunderbird launcher in the menu bar.

Actual Results:  
Well, until yesterday it would present the frozen GUI state described in
"Details".  Today it doesn't, as I reverted to 1.0 and added 1.0.2 to
package.mask to prevent it coming back.  Problem does not manifest itself in 1.0.

Expected Results:  
Rendered a responsive GUI that would accept mouse events and ... err... do things.

Ooops, left this unclear:

Restarting Firefox fixes the problem.  However if the system is left for a long period of time and then Firefox is run again it often returns to the frozen state, prompting a close/restart again.

For the above, remove Firefox and insert Thunderbird.  Sorry, I need a coffee.

which windows manager are you using. If this is not a problem anymore please
close it.
