Hi,
at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2893 is a patch to allow building xorg-x11 with gcc 4.0.0
works for me, maybe this can be included into portage as it is also seems to be in upstream

Which version are you testing? Please try 6.8.2-r2 and 6.8.99.3.

this was 6.8.2-r1... I'll retest with 6.8.2-r2 and when that doesn't work with 6.8.99.3

-r2 works without patching

Could you confirm with 6.8.99.3 as well? I dropped the gcc4 patches because I thought they were all committed, but I'd like to be sure.

6.8.2-r2 works fine here with gcc4, but 6.8.99.3 crashed my machine over and over again :(

Could you try compiling it with 3.4.x to confirm that's a compiler-related problem?
