Bug 89771 – net-dns/libidn-0.5.13 fails to compile

when I 
emerge -u libidn
then I get the following error:

but java-config -L gives me:

is that all the output java-config -L gives you?
it depends on a jdk, portage should have tried to merge one

Do you realy have no jdk installed?

You really need a jdk as a system-vm to merge java apps
java-config will complain loudly if you set a jre

Why do I need a java-jdk. Is a java jre not sufficient. I had the blackberry jdk in package provided. I changed that. It worked. The Bug can be closed.
