following the installtion instructions in handbook (xcept for using hardened*) but grub fails to emerge (see actual results) tried with version 0.96 according to bug 69276 but stil get the same error

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge grub
2.echo "=sys-boot/grub-0.96 ~x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
3.emerge grub

Actual Results:  
same error as with old version of grub
cannot link at address 2000

Expected Results:  
emerge correctly

it's been fixed in 0.96-r1
