These should be untarred to /usr/portage/x11-misc/

I would much prefer this to eventually be hosted elsewhere, which will require
a change to the ebuild to accomplish.
read /usr/portage/x11-base/xfree/xfree-4.2.1.ebuild Well then I retract my submission. So, take that! Ha! No seriously, how does X find the fonts then. I may have missed something in my setup, but I did not see /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype, which is where these fonts live, in my XF86Config after setting things up. I followed the Desktop Guide in doing so. I have seen a couple other users complain on IRC regarding poor fonts. Another question along this line, the X setup doesn't seem to use xfs, yet xfs is installed. do you have 'truetype' in your USE variable ? also, by 'poor font quality' could you be more specific ? gtk1 apps dont utilize AA fonts for the most parts, so those will look horrible |
