Description Michael Lee Yohe 2005-04-12 09:28:20 UTC
I recently upgraded from VMWare 4.5.2 to VMWare 5 from Portage (~x86) because 5 contains important enhancements for a project I am working on. After re-doing "vmware-config.pl", VMWare Workstation 5 will start up (the main window). But when I open a pre-existing virtual machine, it sits blank after completing the BIOS screen.

Virtual machine is running "Windows XP SP2". The virtual machine exhibited no problems whatsoever with the older version of VMWare.

Comment 3 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-12 10:34:09 UTC
VMware is a binary package and we do not have access to the source. Once you've started your virtual machine, you're in the realm of the application itself and will therefore need to contact VMware for support as we don't have access to the necessary information to help.
Comment 4 Michael Lee Yohe 2005-04-12 11:58:25 UTC
That's fine. I didn't know if there was an "any any" update that should be applied that hasn't already. Thanks.
Comment 5 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-12 12:38:50 UTC
Nah... I've got any any 90 on there, which didn't actually have any binary patches...

Looks like it'll have to wait until someone upstream comes up with a fix... if an any 91 comes out and fixes this, feel free to REOPEN the bug.
