Updating to the latest unstable versions of xine-lib and xine-ui solves the problem. This combination works: x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r1 media-libs/xine-lib-1.0 media-video/xine-ui-0.99.3 This combination does not work: x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r1 media-libs/xine-lib-1_rc8-r1 media-video/xine-ui-0.9.23-r2 (which is a bit unfortunate, since this is the combination the majority of Gentoo users get). xine-lib-1_rc8-r1 seems to be completely broken. xine crashes while switching to fullscreen mode. And xine needs 95-99% CPU time while playing the "slide show". Updating to 1.0-r1 fixed the issue. Now, xine only uses 15-18% of my CPU resources, which is much better. Resolving as upstream, new versions fixes the problem and 1.0-r2 is going stable. |
