I'm going to guess they haven't submitted it upstream? (In reply to Michał Górny from comment #1) > I'm going to guess they haven't submitted it upstream? I don't think so. Ok, so my only idea right now is to use gtar over tar when gtar is available. I'll try to make a patch later. Created attachment 840243 [details, diff]
linux-tar.patch
Here's my idea.
The alternative options for bsdtar are in: https://github.com/libarchive/libarchive/issues/278 (In reply to Michał Górny from comment #4) > Created attachment 840243 [details, diff] [details, diff] > linux-tar.patch > > Here's my idea. Looks good. (In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #5) > The alternative options for bsdtar are in: > https://github.com/libarchive/libarchive/issues/278 Ah, thanks for digging that up. Key bit being: >If someone wants to implement GNU tar-compatible --owner and --group options, I'm happy to review patches, but this isn't a priority for me. I don't think changing bsdtar resolves the problem entirely. I mean, then we could add fallback from gtar to bsdtar but in general I don't think that's worth the effort just to have: '|| ( tar libarchive )' dep in kernel ebuilds. |
