- missing surround sound is definitely not a major issue - you missed to write which alsa-* ebuild version you're using - if not a configuration issue, it's most likely a problem, which needs to be solved upstream I am using alsa 1.0.8 Here is my emerge info: Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/amd64/2004.3, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r1, 2.6.11-gentoo-r3 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.11-gentoo-r3 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4-r1 [2.3.4 (#1, Mar 12 2005, 23:39:59)] distcc 2.18.3 x86_64-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] ccache version 2.3 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4-r1 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.8.5-r3, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.7.9, 1.9.4 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.10-r4 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r4 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=athlon64 -ffast-math -funroll-all-loops -funit-at-a-time -fpeel-loops -ftracer -funswitch-loops -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=athlon64 -ffast-math -funroll-all-loops -funit-at-a-time -fpeel-loops -ftracer -funswitch-loops -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.hamakor.org.il/pub/mirrors/gentoo http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" LC_ALL="en_US.ISO-8859-8" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://mirror.hamakor.org.il/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 X aalib acpi alsa berkdb bidi bitmap-fonts cdr crypt crypto curl directfb dvd dvdr fam flac font-server fortran gdbm gif gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 imlib ipv6 java jp2 jpeg junit lzw lzw-tiff mad mikmod motif mp3 ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl pam perl png python readline samba sdl slang ssl tcltk tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts usb userlocales xml2 xmms xpm xrandr xv zlib" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LDFLAGS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY Hello, I opened this bug report a couple of weeks ago, and there seems to be no activity regarding it. Is there any way that i can further assist, to have this issue resolved? The sound support of this system is very important for me, for i cannot use it (with Gentoo linux) otherwise. Try 1.0.9_rc2. If that still produces problems, you should contact upstream and let me know the bug number so I can follow up as I lack the hardware to reproduce/fix this. http://bugtrack.alsa-project.org |
