So having the swap space as hda2 after a small boot partition could get a little bit more performance out of computers, which need to use the swap partition often. I suggest this would be added to the handbook chapter 4.b. Designing a Partitioning Scheme.

This isn't actually true on modern drives that do all kinds of fancy relocation tricks, nor does it take into account the excess seeking this can cause.
