Description Lars Strojny 2005-03-25 03:09:43 UTC
Since gentoo-dev-sources provides the inotify-patch, it is sensible to include the inotify-utils in portage.

I feel like a spammer. But: now it's completely slottable.
Comment 4 Lars Strojny 2005-06-03 09:00:51 UTC
What's about that, should I close it?
Comment 5 Christian Gut 2006-05-14 14:12:05 UTC
Are there any problems getting this into portage? As I can see, we don't have anything for inotify in portage, but vanilla-sources support them since 2.6.13.

Anyone interested in me testing the ebuild with the current version?
Comment 6 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-14 15:05:58 UTC
Unless I'm mistaken, inotify-utils isn't really that useful for most people - it only provides a simple test application. inotify-utils is not a requirement for other applications to use inotify.
Comment 7 Wolfram Schlich (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-30 08:42:45 UTC
We should include inotify-tools instead:

http://inotify-tools.sourceforge.net/

Will open a new bug for that...
Comment 8 Wolfram Schlich (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-30 08:45:26 UTC
See bug #142189
Comment 9 Wolfram Schlich (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-30 09:29:39 UTC
FYI, =sys-fs/inotify-tools-2.2 is in portage now (~x86).
Comment 10 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-11 03:43:51 UTC
Thanks Wolfram. I'm pretty sure that including inotify-utils as well as inotify-tools would be pretty redundant, if someone disagrees please reopen this bug and reassign to maintainer-wanted@gentoo.org
