In the ebuild 

  ./configure [...] --prefix-lib="$(get_libdir)" 

is set resulting in

  $ pythia8-config --libdir
  lib64

which I think is not the correct behavior, since it should be an absolute path.
Further:

  $ pythia8-config --libs
  -Llib64 -lpythia8 -L -lboost_iostreams -L./ -lz -ldl
