Bug 85629

Summary: After upgrading CUPS to newer versions, cupsd seems to die
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: a <hideki>

Description a 2005-03-17 06:19:57 UTC
On every cups updating, when the emerge completes, the current cupsd running seems to die and stops printing from working.

If I do /etc/init.d/cupsd restart, it says cupsd failed to stop, and I have to zap it once and start it again.

So, maybe a auto restart script in the ebuild should be nice to avoid having printing from stop working when cups gets updated.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. /etc/init.d/cupsd start
2. emerge cups
3.

Actual Results:
The current running instance of cupsd dies and fails to stop itself
by /etc/init.d/cupsd stop.

Expected Results:
The current running cupsd should not be interfered or should be automatically
restarted upon emerge completion of cups package.

/etc/init.d/cupsd zap
/etc/init.d/cupsd start

will fix the problem, but for people who update system automatically, it's
hard to realize when the printing goes down.
