I'm not looking forward to rebuilding everything from scratch. Seems to be related to having had installed gnome-2.6 before? Having had gnome-2.8 installed, not 2.6 ... It is now more than 2 weeks ago that I asked this bug to be reopened. Please reopen. my random guess is that it goes nuts on the circular link in /boot. What version of g-s-t are you using ? Try with the latest (even if it's p.masked) in the tree. $ equery list gnome-system-tools [ Searching for package 'gnome-system-tools' in all categories among: ] * installed packages [I--] [ ] app-admin/gnome-system-tools-1.2.0 (0) I've got the latest installed. It fails to bring up the dialog to enter the root password. works fine if run as root Yes, it works for me as root as well. What I meant to say was: When run as a normal user it fails to bring up the dialog that asks for the root password and just hangs there until I kill it. |
