Description Bjoern Koch 2005-03-11 08:35:48 UTC
As there is already a global USE-flag for Evolution, why not using it in the gnome-ebuild?
I find it strange having a "-evo" in make.conf and gentoo still wanting to install all the Evolution stuff with Gnome.
As the USE-flag seems to be there to enable/disable the evolution support in programs (Adds support for evolution in gnumeric and multisync), it makes (perfect) sense to me not to compile Evolution with Gnome if there is a "-evo" set (or include it into Gnome when "evo" is set...).
I'd really like to see this in the ebuilds.

nah

look up the relevant (bugzilla!) discussions on this matter (aka. search before you file).

evo is a flag of old times and should be removed sometime in the future.

sorry for the double posting.

Well, if search bugs.gentoo for more than an hour on this topic and couldn't find any matching entry (IMHO).
And even if the global "evo" flag will be removed sooner or later, there should be a way to disable evolution (or even some other bigger packages like games) in Gnome without switching to gnome-light and installing all the other extras.
If you would have read (first read the discussion if someone posts a link to a forum ??? aka. read before you file ?!) the discussion about this it would have been clear what this is all about...

we know exactly what this is about, we just don't agree with the line of thought.
