Bug 84865 – scite file drop down menu incredibly slow

Running current/stable scite on x86 (athlon 2200+ 1.5G ram)
click on 'File' upper left menu option and often takes
4 or 5 seconds for the menu to drop down.  This is a recent
thing (past week).  When I'm heavy into programming that
4 or 5 second wait just to jump back and forth between files
makes the program frustrating -- unusable.

If I've just clicked on 'File' the next click comes down quick.
But after a few minutes editing on the current file and it
goes slow again.

Not certain what the root cause of the slow down is.
But awkward.  I'm tagging the bug 'minor' because there is
no function loss, but in reality it makes the program unusable.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. open up several files in scite
2. edit in one for several minutes
3. click on 'File' -- long pause before menu drops down

Actual Results:  
took too long for menu to drop down

Expected Results:  
prior to a week ago or so, fast drop down
E.g. scite has a quick drop down on much older
hardware windows box.

Heitzso, can you please try 1.6.3 and see if the problem still exists? According to the changelog, the menu code has been rewritten.

My gentoo box is now being used as a server and not for every day dev work.
I just tested scite via ssh -X and its working fine. File open dialog
is fast.  I'm marking as CLOSED if it will let me.  Thanks.
