Description caspar-gentoo-bugs 2005-03-05 07:03:27 UTC
Update from 2.5.8 to 2.5.9. Actual version 2.5.9.

The default "access_log" entry is:

access_log /var/log/squid/access.log squid

"squid" is specified as being a reference to a format specified with the "logformat" directive.

There are four logformats predefined, squid, squidmime, common and combined. But none of these is uncommented so the access_log entry references a non-existing format.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. `grep "^access_log" squid.conf`
2. `grep "^logformat" squid.conf`
3. `grep "^#logformat" squid.conf`
Actual Results:
step1: default access_log references
step2: non existing logformat entry
step3: though 4 logformats are commented.

Expected Results:
step 2 should give at least one entry -- "logformat squid".

it isn't really a duplicate
Comment 3 Alin Năstac (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-06 07:50:13 UTC
at least squid format is valid (works for me), even if it is commented. I guess those formats are defined by default.

please understand that this is a patch for allowing custom log formats and it isn't supposed actually correct all documentation. they (devs) never do that!

I do know very well, which doesn't change the fact if this config is ok or not.

And I think it's not ok for it at best relies on some built-in values and therefore a situation not reflected within this config.
