Description Jason McGuiness 2005-03-03 16:13:51 UTC
Broken cdaudio playback. Thanks guys - no warning that there was a new media-plugins/xmms-cdaudio plugin for xmms. This "upgrade" broke by cd playback embarrassingly. Joy. Oh - and I've now got a broken cdrw thanks to that. Perhaps (note the irony), this should have been automatically installed, with a note that it was, so that nothing would have been broken for users, and others would have the choice to uninstall it, rather than ensure that all those few users with cdrom drive would be affected by having no cd audio playback.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Perhaps you missed the message post-installation warning you to install extra xmms modules that are no longer bundled, including xmms-cdaudio? Also, I don't understand how upgrading to the testing xmms (note, it's not stable unless your on amd64) broke your cdrw. Perhaps you could elaborate further and provide "emerge info" output?

The reporter is on amd64 and has thus received the new ebuild, and seen the new way of packaging XMMS (BMP is following the same route).
Please elaborate on the CD-RW breakage, is that hardware failure caused by the plugin, by the user, ...?
