econf of x11-misc/xscreensaver dies in the configure phase with:
 *        phase-helpers.sh, line  711:  Called __helpers_die 'econf failed'
 *   isolated-functions.sh, line  112:  Called die
 * The specific snippet of code:
 *              die "$@"

This is because x11-misc/xscreensaver configure exits with 1 when the option --without-gl aka USE= -opengl is chosen.
