Since the package offers support for many Broadcom cards, it would be nice to support the savedconfig flag and install only the needed files, as it is done in sys-kernel/linux-firmware.

On-disk installed size is 4 MiB, FWIW.

I don't see any advantages on using savedconfig on such small size. I've added compressed firmware support, and now installed package even smaller:

# equery s sys-firmware/broadcom-bt-firmware
