Description Alexey Mishustin 2021-12-04 19:55:45 UTC
Hi

The package sys-apps/baselayout is not being added to world.

If this is an intended behaviour (like adding system packages to world is prohibited), it should me documented somewhere (for example, in man emerge).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge sys-apps/baselayout
2. emerge --noreplace sys-apps/baselayout
3. emerge -select sys-apps/baselayout
Actual Results:
sys-apps/baselayout is not added to world
sys-apps/baselayout is not added to world
sys-apps/baselayout is not added to world

Expected Results:
sys-apps/baselayout should be added to world
sys-apps/baselayout should be added to world
sys-apps/baselayout should be added to world

3. emerge -select sys-apps/baselayout
-> 3. emerge --select sys-apps/baselayout
Comment 2 Alexey Mishustin 2021-12-04 19:57:17 UTC
it should me documented somewhere
-> it should be documented somewhere
Comment 3 Jonas Stein gentoo-dev 2021-12-05 00:43:40 UTC
sys-apps/baselayout is an "Implicit System Dependency"
part of the list:
emerge --pretend --nodeps @system

Why is it important to warn the user, if the sys-apps/baselayout is not added to the list?

Sam,

Thank your for your reply.

I would call it not important, but consistent.

I just had questions about how my Portage works, and this inconsistence added oddities :)
