# /etc/init.d/distccd start
# /etc/init.d/distccd status
* crashed
# source /etc/conf.d/distccd
# distccd $DISTCCD_OPTS

... and distccd is running as expected. nothing in log ; not sure at all what else to include.

* the complete build.log as attachment and
* paste the emerge info

Same problem on two different machines with equivalent setup.
