Description Martin Ehmsen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-16 02:16:10 UTC
I have a fresh amd64 installation of gentoo.
I have installede xorg-x11 and i'm now trying to install openbox, but it fails with the following message during configure:

checking for xft... Package xft was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `xft.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'xft' found

configure: error: Library requirements (xft) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

Unpacking and doing a export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib64/pkgconfig and then configure works. So I think this has something to do with your xorg-x11 team moving those x lib's around recently.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Comment 1 Martin Ehmsen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-23 05:26:00 UTC
pango also has similar issues... which are resolved by doing the export PKG_CONFIG_PATH thing I mentioned.
Maybe someone should CC or assign this bug to someone other than Commonbox Team, since its not only a openbox issue. The issue is probably in the amd64 port.
