I've checked if the kernel has /usr/src/linux-2.6.10-gentoo-r6/Module.symvers - there is
 no such file as Module.symvers. I then recompiled the kernel with an option
[*] Module versioning support (EXPERIMENTAL), then tried emerging lirc again and it
compiled/installed OK. So I'm closing the issue and marking is as "invalid" as lirc wasn't
at fault.
