Description Wayne 2005-02-07 05:01:49 UTC
Hi all

I've just emerged k3b, run setup and when I try to burn a data CD it fails. I have pasted the debug info below. The original error talks about a burrer underrun error but I'm running a new DVD writer the runs perfectly in xcdroast at much higher speeds.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Burn CD
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Heres the debug output

System
-----------------------
K3b Version:0.11.17
KDE Version: 3.3.2
QT Version: 3.3.3

cdrecord
-----------------------

Do you have the setuid bit set in cdrecord?

try:
# ls -l /usr/bin/cdrecord

if it is like this:
-rwsr-xr-x 1 root root 329020 Nov 3 00:36 /usr/bin/cdrecord

then run
# chmod u-s /usr/bin/cdrecord

and it should become:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 329020 Nov 3 00:36 /usr/bin/cdrecord
Comment 4 Wayne 2005-02-08 12:06:09 UTC
Thanks that works great, my only complaint being that k3b set those perms for me. Is it a Gentoo thing?
Comment 5 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-08 12:33:52 UTC
It's a more subtle issue related to the kernel, newer versions of k3b are
already aware of this and don't change cdrecord permissions.
Take a look here:
