Bug 81000 – Konqueror loads http sites very slowly

Konqueror take a very long time to load web sites, for example 45 seconds just to load http://www.google.com. Google takes < 3 seconds to load in Firefox under the same setup.

It seems that the problem is starting downloads rather than speed, as pages will load suddenly, followed by more delays before loading each image, although I have once seen it report a speed of 300 *bytes* per second (I have 600 kilobits/second).

Konqueror works correctly for local file browsing/preview etc. Local html files are rendered instantly.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open konqueror.
2. Type any http:// url in the address bar.
3. Wait for far too long.

Actual Results:  
Page takes at least 30 seconds to start loading.

Expected Results:  
Page starts to load within 5 seconds.

Please take a look at this thread. Look like an IPV6 problem that can be workarounded.

Should I just add KDE_NO_IPV6=true to the end of /etc/profile or is more needed for this fix?

I have not knowingly compiled IPv6 support into the kernel, and IPv6 is not enabled in /etc/rc.conf (the line reads: PROTOCOLS="1 2" ).

Try setting KDE_NO_IPV6=true in /etc/env.d/99kde-env and run env-update,
and see if it works...

Gentoo defaults to IPv6 and the documentation is in place
