after emerging gimp-1.2.3 and unmerging gimp-1.2.2 I can no longer re-merge 
gimp-freetype because it wants to use "gimptool" to check for gimp, and gimp-
1.2.3 doesn't symlink /usr/bin/gimptool-1.2 to /usr/bin/gimptool

ok, fixed on CVS in gimp-1.2.3-r2 and in gimp-freetype-0.2-r1.  Thanks for the
bug report! :)
