Description Charles Phoenix 2005-02-04 14:29:08 UTC
What happened: I did do a search for a dependency issue and for a separate ebuild but there were just recently taken care of. I did not do an 'all' search but the default 'open' search. I did not find anything. I now know the proper way of to preform a search.

This is a "I am unfamiliar with bugzilla" mistake so my suggestion is any of the following...

1) default to all, or perhaps three buttons instead of a drop down?
2) make note that 'all' will find everything
3) if a search does not find anything with 'open' or 'close' note 'all' will search everything

This should reduce the number of duplicates, it would have prevented my two dups.

Making an 'ALL' search the default if nothing is found, in my opinion, would tax the DB behind database beyond belief. More intelligent bug searching, as you've found, creates much more desirable results ;)

But I will keep your idea in mind.

Jeffrey

Is it hard to add a link to "Zarro Boogs found" page, which will perform the same search, but with "Status" and "Resolution" set to "All"?

For instance:

> Zarro Boogs found.
>
> Search in closed bugs too
> File a new bug
> Edit this search
> Start a new search

If it's not too hard to implement, do you agree with such enhancement proposal?
