I got bit with this bug today, the only solution for me so far is to turn off dbus/hal.

I don't know what caused this bug for me, it started out of nowhere, but it's a pain :P

I forgot to mention, this is with hal-0.4.2-r1 and gnome-vfs-2.8.3-r1, so it's not just the 2.9.x series having these issues.
