Can you re-check with 9.2.0? Created attachment 721107 [details]
net-misc:croc-9.2.0:20210702-191534.log
The one system on which I see the error has only just last night caught up enough with updates for me to try, but once I'd synced the Portage tree I tried 9.2.0, and it fails apparently-similarly. (Build log attached.)
9.2.1 apparently passed its tests and installed without issue on the machine in question, and while my first time attempting 9.4.2 it failed at least one test, a second attempt passed the test suite. |

(This is the slowest of my three machines, making me suspect there might be a timeout involved somewhere?) Full build log and emerge --info output attached.
