Description David Hipple 2005-01-25 09:18:45 UTC
I try to run emerge -uDp world and i get this error

so I block >x11-base/opengl-update-2.0 in package.mask and run "emerge -uD world" and i get this
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies |
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=x11-base/opengl-update-2.1_pre1" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- x11-base/opengl-update-2.1_pre1 (masked by: package.mask)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.
!!! (dependency required by "media-video/ati-drivers-8.8.25-r3" [ebuild])

!!! Problem with ebuild media-video/ati-drivers-8.8.25-r3
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.

!!! Depgraph creation failed

Now it seems to be contradicting it self by saying ati-drivers need opengl-update but wont buld if they are there.

Same problem here.

At first:

Calculating world dependencies -
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=x11-base/opengl-update-2.1_pre1" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- x11-base/opengl-update-2.1_pre1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.
!!! (dependency required by "media-video/ati-drivers-8.8.25-r3" [ebuild])

!!! Problem with ebuild media-video/ati-drivers-8.8.25-r3
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.

!!! Depgraph creation failed.

Afer unmasking:

[blocks B ] <media-video/ati-drivers-8.8.25-r3 (from pkg x11-base/opengl-update-2.1_pre1)
[nomerge ] media-video/ati-drivers-extra-3.14.6 +qt
[ebuild NS ] media-video/ati-drivers-3.14.6 0 kB
[ebuild UD] x11-base/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r3 [6.8.0-r4] -3dfx +3dnow -cjk -debug -dlloader +doc +ipv6 +mmx +nls +pam -sdk +sse -static 0 kB
Comment 2 Rainer Koschnick 2005-01-25 12:13:05 UTC
I did the following to solve the problem.

unmerge ati-drivers
unmerge opengl-update

emerge opengl-update
emerge ati-drivers

@Rainer:
Strange, but at least it worked. Thanks!
Comment 4 David Hipple 2005-01-25 18:57:40 UTC
I ran:
emerge unmerge ati-drivers
emerge unmerge opengl-update

emerge opengl-update
emerge ati-drivers

and emerge ati-driverserge ati-drivers
and the output is:
Calculating dependencies -
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=x11-base/opengl-update-2.1_pre1" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:

!!! (dependency required by "media-video/ati-drivers-8.8.25-r3" [ebuild])

emerge opengl-update worked fine
?????? any other ideas?

emerge unmerge opengl-update

emerge opengl-update
emerge ati-drivers

and emerge ati-driverserge ati-drivers

Comment 6 David Hipple 2005-01-25 19:03:47 UTC
omit my last 2 post i forgot to unmask opengl-update
ya that fix worked fine.
So it is just the ebuild?
Comment 7 David Hipple 2005-01-26 10:53:31 UTC
The method here works
