Description Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-21 12:59:43 UTC
Hi,

as you added the firmware for my wireless lan card to the live cd, I noticed,
that I have to load the pcmcia module by hand, because hotplug doesn't so.

Or that is to say: "modprobe yenta_socket" && unplug wireless card && plug in
back in results in a working (=noticed) wireless card.

If I don't do that dmesg doesn't show anything about unpluging the card or pluging
it back in.

Markus

I forgot to say, that official 2004.3 live cd loaded the modules itself at boot time.

Did you use "dopcmcia" on the bootprompt?
Comment 3 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-22 10:18:32 UTC
ok, using dopcmcia works. I just didn't noticed that this changed from last
release. Using 2004.3 live cd tries to load the (not found) firmware without
bootoptions.
