Description Guy 2005-01-19 18:45:33 UTC
This is exactly the same problem as bug# 74130. I believe that bug should be re-opened but since I can't re-open it, I'm opening a new one.

I encountered the same problem this evening when I tried to emerge 'mirrorselect' on this machine. I last did an 'emerge -puDv world' to completion about 3 days ago. So this is an on-going problem.

On the box where I ran into this problem, only 'mirrorselect' needs dialog. So, since I'm a mere English speaker, 'USE="-unicode" emerge dialog' is acceptable.

Notice from my 'emerge info' that 'unicode' is set. It has been set since I built this machine from a stage 3 tarball. The implication is that 'ncurses', 'tic' etc needs to be rebuilt with unicode support as a dependency for 'dialog' when 'unicode' is set. Then again, what do I know. I'm just a dufus user. :-)

Please feel free to close this if I'm totally off base here.
