Description Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-16 10:21:40 UTC
Hi,

I just wanted to build ppc64 stages, but it won't find a compiler in stage2. I think
this is related to the output of gcc-config at the end of the stage1 build process.

Please look in output for more details.

This happens with 2004.3 and 2005.0 profile using catalyst-1.1.2.

Markus

Yeah... catalyst 1.1.2 is not fit for using quite yet, though it isn't catalyst's fault. We made catalyst now produce "fixed" stage 1 and stage2 tarballs. This means the current bootstrap.sh script will not work.

This is by design.

Any stages not built with catalyst 1.1.2 for the final release will not be accepted, as we are now providing stages where /var/db/pkg is not cleaned out.

Anyway, the "solution" until bootstrap.sh is fixed is to add a "-e" to the emerge baselayout/glibc line of bootstrap.sh before making your snapshot. Otherwise, things do not get rebuilt properly in the stage2 build.
