Bug 77964 – Openoffice 1.1.3 (ximian included) has no javasupport

If I try to save a file as Docbook (xml) it opens a dialog telling me that openoffice was not configured to run java, while it was compiled with it and was requested in the USE flag. After that - when I succesfully selected the java I installed the program informs me that I need to restart the application to let the changes take effect, so I click OK. Then the office app crashes.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. File -> Save as...
2. Select "DocBook (simplified)(.xml)" as File type
3. Click save
4. Click OK on new Dialog
5. Find you java JRE and select it and click OK
6. Click OK on new Dialog
7. Now Bugbuddy comes up - I press cancel...
Actual Results:  
Then the office app crashes.

Expected Results:  
Select an other way to save?

Works without problems for me, so this is most likely a problem with your java setup. Which java version are you using? Also try to set the jvm with the jvmsetup program in the program dir of OOo / ooo-ximian.

Can choose between:
blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.01
blackdown-jre-1.4.2.01

java-config points to:
blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.01

So did you try to change the setting with jvmsetup, did it change anything?

jvmsetup did help. Maybe it should be mentioned after installation. Just like some other apps (vmware) do. Something like:
"If you need java support, then run /opt/openoffice/program/jvmsetup and complete the setup."
