A patch applied against the upstream git that solves the undefined references.

I was unable to make a MR upstream because the system prevents new forks and the e-mail function did not work for me so I made an issue instead.

I tested the patch against 3.0.4, but it seems upstream somehow fixed some of the cases on their own since then.
