I added the ebuild for linux-wlan-ng-0.2.1_pre25 and a makefilepatch. At least i needed the patch to make linux-wlan-ng compiling all on my box. Can you close this bug? + Makefile patch is no longer needed on pre26 --- /usr/portage/net-wireless/linux-wlan-ng/linux-wlan-ng-0.2.1_pre23.ebuild 2005-01-23 15:07:25.000000000 -0600 +++ /usr/local/portage/net-wireless/linux-wlan-ng/linux-wlan-ng-0.2.1_pre26.ebuild 2005-03-22 08:36:03.000000000 -0600 @@ -6,7 +6,7 @@ IUSE="${IUSE} usb build" -MY_P=${PN}-${PV/_/} +MY_P=${PN}-${PV/_/-} S=${WORKDIR}/${MY_P} DESCRIPTION="The linux-wlan Project" @@ -33,9 +33,6 @@ cp ${WORKDIR}/${PN}-gentoo-init ${S}/etc/rc.wlan - cd ${S} - epatch ${FILESDIR}/linux-wlan-2.6.10-fix.diff - # Lots of sedding to do to get the man pages and a few other # things to end up in the right place. Version 0.2.1-final has been released on August 24. Official announce: http://lists.linux-wlan.com/pipermail/linux-wlan-announce/2005-August/000095.html Changes since 0.2.1-pre26: 0.2.1-final - Added in-kernel devicetable for 2.6.13+ pcmcia - Updates to bring prism2_cs into the newer 2.6 kernel APIs. - Fixes in the hotplug invocation with WEXT (Pavel Roskin) - Experimentally try using usb_reset_device on 2.4 kernels too - use usb_reset_device() on 2.6 kernels (Andreas Schulte) - Included kludged 1.8.4 PCI/PCMCIA firmware (Pavel Roskin) - PCMCIA card Ident fixes to coexist with orinioco driver (Pavel Roskin) - Ignore unexpected ctlx responses. (Chris Rankin) - Fix an off-by-one in scan results. - Change some log priorities - [usb] Fix a memory leak (Chris Rankin * Eroc Koenders) - [usb] clean up the PDA Read function a bit. (Chris Rankin) - [usb] Don't overwrite current CTLX URB before we're done with it. (Eric Koenders & Chris Rankin) - Fix a byte-order problem when parsing scan results (Eroc Koenders) - Added a mib item (lnxRSNAIE) to get/set the WPA/RSNA IE. - Applied a patch from Chris Rankin which should solve the hangs with kernel preemption turned on. - Cleaned up some compile warnings with GCC 3.4.x - Add a background thread to fetch comms quality from hardware. - Fixed a series of bad memsets in prism2dl - Added id for Viewsonic USB widget (Ekin Meroglu) - Eliminate the extra frame copy in the usb rx path. - When issuing a start/join, set MACMODE to none as to disable transmits through the hardware. - Get rid of the prism2_pci/plx 2.2.x compatibility code (Pavel Roskin) - Change default behaivor of top-level Makefile (Pavel Roskin) - Get rid of the #ifndef DECLARE_TASKLET cases; 2.4+ supports it. - Fetch the BSSID when we get an AP_CHANGE event - netif_carrier_off/netif_carrier_on at appropriate times - Hook up the dot11CurrentTxPowerLevel MIB in the prism2 code. - Add a default TMPDIR in case it isn't set. - Removed some 2.2.x cruft - CommsQuality now does the right thing with dBm values. - More makefile work from Pavel Roskin - A major USB patch from Chris Rankin. This rewrites the command-queueing code to something considerably more sane. - A few more Makefile tweaks - Further compile warning fixes on 64-bit targets (Pavel Roskin) - Fix prism2_cs on 64-bit targets (Pavel Roskin) - Fix the 2.4 build (whoops) 0.2.2 was released: * Fix an array overflow in the hotplug code that sometimes caused the kernel to oops on module load. linux-wlan-ng-0.2.2.ebuild
* ebuild for the new version of linux-wlan-ng
it is the old ebuild (removed the patch)
compiles perfectly also up to kernel 2.6.13
Because there are quite a few people interested in this so I thought I would write a couple of words. We are working on splitting the ebuild into many. For example the modules get their own ebuild and keygenerators another. We also think that instead of using a unique setup it would be better to integrate support for the normal setup by adding a net module for baselayout. I will post a link to my personal overlay after I get the new setup working. In the meantime can we version bump it? We need the updated modules. http://a.bo.cx/ebuilds. I just got it working with my laptop. The usual warning about experimental stuff. 0.2.2 working here, too. On amd64, that is! I forgot to say that I would be interested in the kind of hardware you have. I have a prism3 usb card so I am interested in learning if the pcmcia stuff works too. Speaking of which I think there is a bug in my pcmcia code, will fix. Of course with pcmcia there should be wireless extensions compatible alternatives. I am using a prism2 usb gadget from Netgear. No PCMCIA experience over here. The new splitted ebuilds are now in the tree as package.masked. I will unmask it after testing with my laptop using the official tree. Removed the ebuild from package.mask. Thanks for everyone who participated in this bug. |
