x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-g++: fatal error: Killed signal terminated program cc1plus This almost always mean that the kernel's OOM (Out-of-Memory) killer ended the process, meaning you ran out of RAM while building. `dmesg`'s output will mention this near the end. Try with lower MAKEOPTS -jX value and ensure PORTAGE_TMPDIR (/var/tmp) is not on tmpfs. Thank you! This specific system is not a powerful machine with plenty of RAM. It's a MacBook Pro Early 2015 with 8GB of RAM, zswap, and a physical 4GB swap. Does it require more RAM? I am going to test as you've instructed and report back. Created attachment 693261 [details]
the build log
Here is a new build with 1 job, which also fails
(In reply to Mamadou Babaei from comment #3) > Here is a new build with 1 job, which also fails In the new log I see: * Running emake make -j5 -l4 Seems like it's still using your previous MAKEOPTS with -j5 Sorry, I'll try again with the following commented: #EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS="--jobs=8 --load-average=8 --keep-going --with-bdeps=y" #MAKEOPTS="-j9 -l8" Be warned having MAKEOPTS unset cause portage to default to your core/threads count (nproc's output), which in this case will be -j4 It may or may not be too much. Thank you, I did not know that. Thank you, I can confirm it works. Sorry for the inconvenience. |
