Description Karol Krizka 2005-01-12 17:10:04 UTC
Hello,
I have currenly updated to the kernel to 2.6.10 because it has been unmasked on the amd64 architecture. I also run emerge on alsa-drivers (1.0.7) again but it failed. I have found that it has been fixed in the 1.0.8 (Bug# 75974). Shouldn't the 1.0.8 be unmasked because it is the only version that works with the 2.6.10 kernel?

Cheers,
Karol Krizka

which package did you use for the kernel? gentoo-dev-sources? normally, you don't need to merge anything beside alsa-utils, because the alsa source files are already in the kernel.

2.6.10 should NOT be unmasked on amd64. There are problems with evms/raid stablility.

1.0.8 should be unmasked when 2.6.10 is unmasked...

blubb: it is still recommended to use alsa-drivers over the ones in the kernel as they are more up to date since changes get into the kernel much slower.

resolving invalid since g-d-s is still ~amd64.
