Description chouser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-02-19 20:15:20 UTC
I consistantly get an error from the metalog init script during shutdown.
Apparently, the /var/run/metalog.pid file doesn't get created during boot. I
haven't been able to track down why, but it is interesting to note that it
doesn't seem to have any problem creating the pid file when started later.

Is your /var on a separate filesystem?
Comment 2 chouser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-02-20 08:24:54 UTC
No, /var is in my root filesystem.
Comment 3 Donny Davies (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-03-04 21:39:21 UTC
hmm everything seems hunky dory over here, my /var is also
on the / filesystem, no separate /var filesystem.

im tempted to close this as WORKSFORME. anything more to add?

Chris,

Unless you have something to add to this, I'm going to
close as WORKSFORME. Cant reproduce here.
