Hi,

I've got cups 1.1.14 installed, working well with local printer.

Got samba up and running - serves file shares ok

Got the 'printers = cups' and 'printcap = cups' in my smb.conf

Got xinetd installed and running

But nothing is listening to localhost:901, so my webbrowser gets 'connection
refused'.

Please help

swat is disabled by default.
have you changed

disable         = yes

in :

disable         = no

in /etc/xinetd.d/swat ?

There might be an argument for having the file set as 'disable = no' by default.

gentoo's policy is to NOT enable things when it is installed

thus the behavior you saw is by design
