setup your dns and/or /etc/hosts file nisdomainname should never be required Could you please reopen? I tested this on two different new boxes and it didn't work. I did do everything mentioned in the docs, my hosts etc is fine. search bugzilla and/or forums ... this has been covered many times ... nisdomainname is not a solution by any means I have to agree with SpankY, nisdomainname really should not be set. Make sure your /etc/issue is recent and uses "\O" instead of "\o" (DNS domainname instead of NIS domainname). I did some testing and discovered that domainname only returns the nis domainname... Not really intuitive but that's not related to this bug. I'm sorry to have bothered you with this, my apologies to you SpanKY for asking for reopening. np, the dns/nis separation isnt exactly all that clear with the core utilties from glibc/util-linux/etc... |
