iwlwifi crash when opening a website with 5.11.1

Description Frederik Pfautsch 2021-01-25 00:32:07 UTC
Kernel (gentoo-sources) 5.10.10 breaks iwlwifi for Intel AC 8260, 5.10.9 still works. dmesg log and respective configs attached, 5.10.10 build with make syncconfig from 5.10.9, plus added PPOE driver.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Build 5.10.10 with same config as 5.10.9
2. Reboot with 5.10.10
Actual Results:
Wifi card Intel AC 8260 can't be initialized, does not show up with ifconfig or gnome network-manager. lsmod shows that iwlwifi is loaded

Expected Results:
Initialize wifi card successfully, show up with ifconfig

Could you try a newer version?

Of the Kernel? I am currently running 5.11.1 and it is hit-and-miss if it works. I have noticed however, that a reboot usually fixes it, if it wasn't initially working. Not poweroff and on, just plain reboot. I have tried both iwlwifi as module and built-in.

If it works there are frequent disconnects, or it just shows that it is connected, but no data is really transmitted (crash log iwl_5.11.1).
