Bug 76683

Summary: smpeg fails to build with ld error: cannot find -lGL
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Matt May <mcmay>
Component: Current packagesAssignee: Gentoo Media-video project <media-video>

OS: Linux

Description Matt May 2005-01-04 14:18:07 UTC
While building smpeg, the build fails with this error:

/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lGL
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: *** [glmovie] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/smpeg-0.4.4-r4/work/smpeg-0.4.4'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

In all the lib dirs I checked, I could find symlinks from libGL.so.1 to a valid target .so. I have run ldconfig and etc-config recently.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge smpeg

Comment 1 Matt May 2005-01-06 09:04:55 UTC
I think I fixed it by re-setting opengl-config xorg-x11. It built after that. I'm doing an emerge --update world up to 2004.3, so there's far too many dependencies for me to figure out how that got unset...
Comment 2 Mateusz Wojcik 2005-04-08 03:21:56 UTC
I've had the same problem afer upgrading xorg and ati-drivers package. 'opengl-update ati' fixed the issue.
Comment 3 Luca Barbato gentoo-dev 2005-04-08 09:00:19 UTC
which xorg version were you using? I committed a fix for that issue long ago.

Can you use opengl-update to fix the problem of missing libs as stated?
