chromium-88.0.4324.96 has been released on 2021-01-19, but https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/www-client/chromium has not been detected as out of date, and shows 88.0.4324.87 as the latest 88 package.

Note that stable channel Chromium is now 88.

1. emerge --sync
2. emerge -vp www-client/chromium
3.
Actual Results:  
Old Chromium wants to rebuild

Expected Results:  
Chromium updates to 88.0.4324.96

Looks like packages.gentoo.org is not updating, but it is available already:
