Description Paul James Miller 2005-01-02 10:19:14 UTC
This is a bug in the documentation I think.
In section 7.d of the Installation Handbook it recommends installing coldplug when using genkernel to configure your kernel.

When you enter the line

emerge coldplug

as suggested by code listing 19. the emerge program states that coldplug has been masked ~x86.

Is it not unusual to recomment a supposedly unstable package in the installation documents. I got around this problem by adding

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86"

to the /etc/make.conf file. I just thought you ought to be aware of this situation.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Either the package needs to be made stable or the documentation needs changing.

Check the comments in the other bug.

We are working with the documentation team to split out the documentation into separate revisions for each release.

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
