build log and emerge --info
Possible context of error(s): /bin/sh: /var/tmp/portage/app-text/gnome-doc-utils-0.20.10-r2/work/gnome-doc-utils-0.20.10-python3_6/xml2po/xml2po/xml2po: /usr/bin/python3: bad interpreter: No such file or directory Please note that failure to emerge this package blocks xfce4 packages: - dev-libs/libdbusmenu-16.04.0-r1 - xfce-base/xfce4-panel-4.16.1 - xfce-base/xfce4-meta-4.16-r2 Further examination, I found that this package is likely casualty to removal of python-exec. In the past, invoking /usr/bin/python3 would start the installed python3 interpreter. However, this is not happening on my system with the update. A local workaround for me was to create a symbolic link to the currently install python(version 3.8 for my system) as such: ln -s /usr/bin/python3.8 /usr/bin/python3 Installation of package completed as expected with this workaround.
