If you're on a 'lite' desktop then these things are your own business. If we followed that logic, we would have to make packages depend on Plasma, Gnome etc. plus qtstyleplugins. By "lite" I mean using a Desktop profile and a WM. Shouldn't it "just work"? Considering Audacious already depends on qtcore, qtgu, and qtwidgets I can't imagine qtstyleplugins is going to annoy anyone in regards to bloat. The GUI is visually broken without it... To humor this I tried audacious on a mostly minimal system, I had no icons.. so I emerged qtstyleplugins... and still had no icons. Starting audacious with QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=gnome did finally give me icons though (I guess it's using adwaita's), without qtstyleplugins installed. And that's the main problem here. Suppose we'd created a "virtual/qtplatformtheme-provider" package that contained all known DEs where Qt packages work out of the box plus qtstyleplugins or qt5config or whatever people with "lite desktop" are supposed to use, the dependency still can't ensure the latter is correctly set up by the user. Which makes this better suited for an addition to the Gentoo Wiki. I was mistaken. Thank you both. Please add a link to the wiki article here. |
