Currently if you decided to exit an emerge, you have to either kill a bunch of processes, or kill 
your shell or hit ctrl+C a million times

It would be nice if Ctrl+C killed the ebuild process cleanly

This should now be fixed in Portage 1.8.9_pre14 (in testing)
