Mixxx will not produce a binary, if media-libs/speex is not present.
/var/tmp/portage/media-sound/mixxx/temp/build.log did not exist, if it is still needed, please provide an (emerge?) command that will generate it.

That happens when libshout system lib is not sufficient and internal is used.
Fixed upstream with next release.

As alternative you can try the cmake based live ebuilds of mixxx until mixxx-2.3 will be released.
A lot of interesting changes upstream since last release mixxx-2.2.4.
Testing feedback welcome.

The last scons ebuilds of mixxx are gone now from the tree.
The cmake based ebuilds don't have this bug.

Please close as fixed upstream.
